Does anything require the internet?
No. Lessons, media, assessment, and scoring all run on-device. Connectivity only carries data when it happens to be available — it never gates learning. A classroom that never sees a network still gets the complete product.
How do you get updates to devices that go months without a network?
Whenever any single device touches a network, it pulls updates and can then seed the rest of the room over a local mesh. A weekly courier, a monthly satellite window, or one teacher's phone in town are all valid sync channels. Updates are binary-diffed, so a thirty-second window moves real data.
What happens if two teachers record the same learner offline?
Progress is stored as a conflict-free, append-only log. Two devices that recorded the same learner merge cleanly when they next meet a hub — no server has to referee every write, and nothing is overwritten.
Do you replace teachers?
No, and we say so in writing during the assessment. Sites without an engaged on-site facilitator show materially weaker results. Untether equips a teacher; it does not stand in for one.
What does it cost?
Pricing is per site, not per learner — there's no connection to meter. Pilots are free for 90 days; purchased sites start around $3,900 including hardware, packs, and sync tooling. Grant and NGO pricing is available. See pricing.
What happens to our data?
Learner records stay on your devices and your hub. Sync moves the minimum needed and nothing is sold. Content packs are open-licensed and hardware is documented for repair, so a deployment is not locked to us. See policies.
Can we keep using it if Untether disappears?
Yes — that's a design goal, not a courtesy. Open content formats and documented, repairable hardware mean a deployment must be able to outlive the company that shipped it.
