Policies
Data, hardware, and the promises around them.
Plain-language summaries. The full terms travel with every deployment as printed documents, because our sites often can't fetch them later.
Data & privacy
Learner records live on your devices and your sync hub. Sync moves the minimum needed to reconcile progress and never transmits more than the deltas. We do not sell data, and we do not require learner accounts. Ministry and funder reporting exports are generated from your own hub, on your instruction.
Content licensing
Curriculum content is distributed under open education licenses. You may keep using, adapting, and redistributing the packs you receive — including if you stop working with us. Untether-authored formats are documented publicly.
Hardware warranty & repair
Devices are sold, not rented, and ship with a field-repair kit and full documentation. Warranty covers manufacturing defects for 24 months, but the design intent is repairability over replacement: every common failure has a documented field fix so a site is never grounded waiting on a shipment.
Accessibility
Packs target high-contrast, low-power displays and include printable fallbacks and audio-first modes where the source allows. Assessment timing is configurable per learner. We treat accessibility as a deployment requirement, not an add-on.
End of life
Because deployments must be able to outlive us, we publish the content-pack format and hardware documentation so a third party could maintain either. If Untether winds down, existing deployments keep functioning with no server dependency to lose.
